The Future Takes Flight – Call for the TVET Drone Skills Competition 2024

Drone technology is transforming the way industries inspect, map, monitor, respond and make critical decisions. The TVET Drone Skills Competition 2024 invites students, trainees and emerging drone professionals to demonstrate their practical flying abilities, technical knowledge and problem-solving skills through a series of industry-inspired challenges.

Participants will undertake practical missions designed to test safe flight operations, precision control, mission planning, obstacle navigation, aerial data collection, teamwork and technical decision-making.

The competition may include challenges such as precision take-off and landing, obstacle-course navigation, aerial inspection, search-and-rescue simulation, mapping, image capture and an innovation presentation. Participants will be evaluated not only on speed, but also on safety, accuracy, technical competency, teamwork and successful mission completion.

The TVET Drone Skills Competition goes beyond recreational flying. It provides a platform for participants to apply occupational skills in realistic situations, benchmark their abilities against other competitors and receive valuable feedback from experienced drone and industry professionals.

The competition also aims to strengthen industry-led TVET education and introduce participants to career opportunities in drone operations, maintenance, inspection, geospatial mapping, agriculture, surveillance, infrastructure monitoring and public-safety applications. These are among the established areas in which enterprise drone solutions are currently deployed.

Entries may be submitted by individuals or teams, depending on the selected competition category. All participants must attend the mandatory safety briefing and comply with the official competition rules, approved equipment requirements and judging criteria.

Detailed information regarding the competition tracks, aircraft specifications, scoring system, event venue and technical regulations will be provided to registered participants.
